Artisan
An acquaintance in the agricultural community relayed a saying his father a very successful farmer had as follows “It’s as easy to sell something as to buy it”. While this may have been the case for the farmer of old is it as true today? What does a modern urban based person have to sell? Could he survive on his own bat? Many people yearn for something simpler. How doable is this in the modern world? Is the one man band a relic of the past?
It’s pretty easy to spend ten bucks. Many of the well established businesses are pretty good at mopping up cash. Where do we spend our money? How much do the little guys get? Could or more importantly would you do something to earn yourself ten bucks a week. Why just ten bucks? Well if you can do ten you can probably do twenty and so on.
Let’s ponder this question, what to sell a product or a service? An urban based employee is unlikely to have much in the way of products and limited space to manufacture anything serious in an artisan way. Non tangible information based products are an option. Services can be provided if the person has a skill that adds value and is in demand. Who is the customer or are we in this together and are each other’s customers to create something of value? A kind of bartering system of old.
